Salem's 55th All American
Championship
54th AA Local Photo Gallery
Salem's AASBD Local Race will be held on June 10th 2007
Schedule of Events
Saturday June 9th, 2007
Final inspection:
Final inspection will be held between 10am and 2pm at the track. You
MUST be in line by 1pm.
At final inspection, you'll go thru the registration line as just as you
did for pre-inspection, confirming that everything is paid, make sure all
the paperwork is done, get your map of how to get to the banquet, etc.
Then
you'll get in line for inspection. Once your car is inspected, you will
proceed to the scales. Once your car has been across the scales, it
will be immediately sent to the impound area. Cars will be impounded
overnight.
Banquet:
The banquet will be held at Rolling Hills Church, 6196 Sunnyside Rd,
SE, Salem. Dinner will start at 6pm. As we finish dinner, we'll
recognize the past champs that are present and then we'll present the
non-racing awards (best design, best construction in each division).
This will be followed by the heat and lanes drawing for Sunday's race.
We will have copies of the ladders available for you to fill in for
yourselves if you want to. As each racer's name is called, they will go
up front and get their race t shirt.
The scrapbooks dating back to 1952, the first year that Salem had a
race,
will be available for you to look through. They're quite interesting
due to how things were different "way back then"!!!
Once we have finished conducting the business of the evening, we'll all
head for home for a good night's sleep!!
Race Day:
We will all meet at the track beginning at 7am. One of the
traditions that we started back up a few years ago is the Race Day
Breakfast. Our own Debbie Watson does a bang up job of fixing
breakfast. I believe the menu is
pancakes, sausage and eggs. Breakfast will be served
at approx. 7:30am.
Pictures of each of the division with cars and racers will be taken so
it's very important that you be there on time.
There will be a "racer's meeting" conducted by Mr. Anderson and/or Mrs.
Reinhart to make sure everyone understands how the day is going to go.
The race-day parade is another old tradition. We have a color guard,
have the national anthem, then we have the past champs parade up the
hill while the announcer, our own Steve Brandt, recognizes each of them.
Steve has been our "voice of the Derby" on race day for many years.
Racing is scheduled to start at 10am.
After the race is over, we need to clean up all the equipment before we
present the trophies. We encourage everyone to help
If you have any questions, feel free to email Joe Anderson or Linda
